What's it like to live in Bradley?
"What I loved about the BLC was the tremendous amount of community building that took place. Being from out of state, I was concerned with finding a community that would in a way replace the closeness I had with my family and friends from back home. I needed a support system that would help me make friends easily, show me important resources on campus, and encourage me to explores areas of interest outside my comfort zones. Bradley did all that for me by hosting floor and dorm socials, offering specific classes I could take that were designed with my interests and concerns at mind, and constantly highlighting opportunities around campus for me to take advantage of and grow from."
- Marissa Lucchesi, 2004-2005
"The Bradley Learning Community was the best experience for me during my time at Madison because of its original professor-student roundtable dinners, its access to fine arts funds which allowed me to throw a large party that showcased Bradley students' art and musical talent at the Historical Orpheum Theater, and exposure to campus life and volunteer opportunities."
-Jessica Erickson (2002-2003)
"The friends I made freshman year are friends I will have forever. Learning doesn't just happen in the classroom, the experience you have outside the classroom are just at important. Everywhere I go I see my friends from Bradley. It's a common bond we'll have forever."
- Hannah Sievers (2006-2007)
"The Tuesday of classes, it rained all day. Six of my friends thought it would be fun to go mud sliding down Observatory Hill in the rain, and I was very hesitant. After some heavy coaxing by my roomate, two guys across the hall, and three girls from our floor, I decided that I would go. I am so glad I did because as it turns out, I was meeting three of my future roommates and six of my best friends that I would make in college. Who knew such an impromptu mud-soaked adventure would produce these life-long relationships?"
- Brian Elliot (2006-2007)
"So my fondest memory didn't really take place at Bradley, it happened over the summer and at the being of this year. When I moved back to Madison after being home all summer, I not only realized how much I missed the city, but how much I missed the people. Almost all of the people whom I was most excited to see were friends that I had made in Bradley. The first time my group of Bradley friends got back together, it was as if we had only spent a weekend apart, not three months. It was then that I realized that the friends that I made in Bradley are more than just friends, they are like my family. I know that the friends I made in Bradley freshman year will be friends that I will have for the rest of my life."
- Katy Suo (2006-2007)
"In Bradley it just seemed like everyone was friends. When walking down the halls you just knew everyone. You could go to any event and not feel out of place because you knew that someone you were friends with would be there. I also loved all of the events. There was always something going on. And I knew that if I ever needed a homework break, I could find something interesting to do. I really enjoyed the ice skating event. We went with a kind of small group of people late at night and even though it was on a week night I had so much fun. Some of those people I went ice skating with are now my closest friends. Who knew that falling down together could bring people so close?"
- Mandy Fusilier (2006-2007)
"Yesterday at lunch I was talking to my friend about Bradley and he told me a story about how he was sitting with some former Bradley kids for breakfast. One of the kids was trying to convince his sister that she should live in Bradley. Everyone at the table chimed in. There were about 10 people eating that day and everyone had something positive to say about Bradley. These were not perhaps the people that were most involved, but because there was such an amazing sense of community in Bradley every one of them had something positive to say."
- Nora Matland (2006-2007)
"Bradley offers the same variety of people that each and every dorm on campus do, but because it is a smaller community within this big university I got to know more of a variety of people than I would've if I lived in a larger dorm. My best friends on campus are those I met within the BLC. I had never shared a room before, and now I don't know what I would do without my two roommates or my friends that practically live with me. Whenever I see someone on campus from the BLC, I get super excited, run up, and give them a hug! We all bonded through the unique situations and opportunities that arose within the dorm, and we will all be close throughout college and beyond."
- Kristi Woznicki (2006-2007)
