What is the Satellite?
The Satellite is a multi use space where all students are welcomed. The friendly atmosphere is a great place to study, attend a program, relax, or hang out when you need a break from the busy day. If you have questions regarding campus resources, housing, how to get involved, or multicultural issues, Satellite staff an Multicultural Resident Consultants or an LGBT liaisons is there to provide support and assistance.
Room Reservation Information
The Satellite is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful all- inclusive space for use by housing staff and students, professors and student organizations that need a space for classes, meetings and programs. Housing staff, students, professors and campus organizations can reserve one of our two rooms for a variety of programs.
The Satellite has been used by several campus classes, has debuted the cast of Rent, hosted renowned activist Angela Davis, heard lectures from local politicians, cheered on spoken word artists, and been a catalyst for social change on the UW-Madison campus. If you are interested in reserving a room please read the information below.
Though we host a variety of people it is our duty to ensure that whatever the occasion the people using our space are in line with keeping our space clean, safe and respectful of multiple identities.
Conference Room, 43
The conference room is a relatively large room that will allow for a lot of flexibility in set up. This room can be set up in many different ways, from traditional classroom to dance set-up. Since it is located in a Housing food service unit, no carry in food and beverages are allowed. Housing catering services can provide groups with any type of food and has a wide range of party favorites along with its great ethnic menu! This room has a built in PA system.

The Satellite Room, 79
The Satellite lounge offers a comfortable home-like atmosphere with the benefits of computers a large screen tv/vhs/dvd/ps2 and Xbox360. It is a great place to hold a more relaxed program, meeting, movie night, social, or group discussion. The multicultural mural set on the south wall adds ambiance to the space.

Room Reservation Form
Event Reservation Form (ERF)To reserve a room, please download this form, fill it out and come to the Satellite Front Desk during our open hours to check for space availability. There are also forms available at the desk that satellite staff can assist you with. Reservations cannot be taken over the phone. You are welcome to call ahead to check on space availability but this does not confirm that you have reserved a space. You will receive a confirmation e-mail within 2 business days of turning in your reservation from the Satellite supervisor. This two day notice excludes weekends and holidays. It is possible to reserve a space the day of but the space cannot be in use and a complete ERF must be completed and approved by Satellite desk staff.
Once you come in to place a reservation you will receive further information about the details of your pending reservation.
Recurring Reservations:
The Satellite also accepts recurring reservations on a limited basis for workshops, classes and ethnic dance rehearsals. These reservations have very specific guidelines and responsibilities different from regular conference room and satellite reservations. If you are interested please contact us.
