Dr. Miner is very excited about becoming faculty director of the ERLC. Her years of experience directing the Initiative for Studies in Technology Entrepeneurship (INSITE), the G. Steven Burrill Technology Business Plan Competition and of Research and Cross-Campus programs at the Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship will provide students in the ERLC program with an entry point into the world of entreprenurship that few Madison students have access to. In addition to teaching and coordinating the ERLC required course on Entrepreneurship in society Dr. Miner teaches a course on technology strategy aong with Executive MBA and courses in the M.S.in Biotechnology. Miner's research highlights organizational learning, including learning from the failure of other organizations and improvisation by new organizations.

Sellery B 35
Jim Franzone has worked for University Housing since 2001. He has served as a Residence Life Coordinator in Ogg and Tripp and Adams Halls, and as Residence Life Complex Coordinator for Sellery Hall. Jim was the Program Director for the International Learning Community at UW – Madison from 2002 – 2005, began the UW – Madison Transfer House Community, and is very excited to be part of the team of faculty and staff building the Entrepreneurial Residential Learning Community. Jim manages and supervises the staff at Sellery Hall is looking forward to the ERLC turning the corner of Park and Dayton into a campus entrepreneurial hub!

John Surdyk is one of two Program Directors for the ERLC and in addition to managing day to day operations of the community will bring valuable academic and private business experience to our students. John is the lead organizer of the G. Steven Burrill Business Plan Competition. Competition alumni have started dozens of companies in Wisconsin and elsewhere while raising millions of dollars in financing. Before joining UW-Madison in 2005,Surdyk spent more than 10 years consulting with high-technology start-ups and Fortune 500 firms. John also ran a boutique consulting firm in Madison serving innovative national nonprofit organizations and area small businesses. Recently, he authored a chapter on social responsibility for Business: the Ultimate Resource." John is very excited to help our community Entrepreneurs Ideas into action!
ERLC House Fellow

Ben Beduhn is a junior studying economics with the intent to go to law school. He has interned with the venture company Madison Shuttle as a freshmen and is currently interning with CUNA Mutual Group. Ben has been featured in UW publications like the Wisconsin Viewbook 09-10 and has been named one of the top ten volunteers in Wisconsin in 2007 for his work in Panama.
