Where to eat
Students who live in the University Residence Halls can find their favorite meals and snacks in any of our food service facilities, including dining rooms, carryouts, and coffee houses. Sometimes it's easiest to eat near your hall or in your room. Other times, you'll want to eat in a location close to your classes or with friends who live in other residence halls. You choose! We have plenty of food service options conveniently located near all the University Residence Halls, so you won't have to go far to find what you're craving.
Students who prefer eating in the comfort of their own rooms need not fear. You are able to take your food with you back to your room. To make things even more convenient, you can just leave your dirty dishes in the trash room on your floor. No returning or cleaning plates needed!
Lakeshore Neighborhood
Located in Holt Commons, Frank's Place is the main University Housing dining unit in the Lakeshore Area. Frank's Place has a cafeteria style dining atmosphere and offers its customers a multitude of options to satisfy their hunger. Customers can select from a wide variety of prepared entrees, an even wider selection of a la carte items, or from the sandwich, cereal and salad bars that are featured. Frank's offers something to please almost every appetite. Also located within Holt Commons is the Common Grounds, a small coffee shop which serves a variety of specialty coffee drinks and ice cream desserts.
Liz Waters Dining Room, conveniently located within the residence hall, is the perfect place to go if you want low-fat, vegetarian and vegan foods. Liz, with its cafeteria style dining atmosphere, also offers a salad bar with a wide selection of fresh vegetables and fruit, a variety of breakfast cereals, yogurt and other tasty treats. A great dessert selection and ice cream from the Babcock Dairy are also very popular with residents.

Carson's Carryout, located just off Observatory Drive, behind Slichter Hall, is the primary carryout facility for the Lakeshore Residence Halls. It offers almost 1,000 items every college student needs, such as Ramen noodles, mac and cheese, 12 packs of soda, snacks, candy, milk, juice and chips. In addition, Carson's offers a variety of made to order foods including nachos, pizzas and sub sandwiches. Carson's also serves hot dogs, jumbo pretzels, chili, hot sub sandwiches, calzones and other fresh, delicious food items. In addition to the in-house operations, Carson's offers delivery of pizza, nachos and subs to the residents of the Lakeshore Residence Halls.
Southeast Neighborhood
Rheta's is located in Chadbourne Residential College on the corner of Park and University and offers a wide selection of made-to-order entrées, grilled entrees, pizza, and more in a marketplace style setting. Chadbourne is also home to Now or Later, a grab-and-go area with packaged grocery items, ice cream, and specialty coffee.
Newell’s Deli, located in Smith Hall, is a gathering place for you and your friends, whether they live in the building or not. University Housing Dining Services will provide a selection of packaged kosher foods and some of our most popular menu items in this food service location.
Pop's Club, located in Gordon Commons, has a cafeteria style dining atmosphere offering a wide variety of meals for students every day of the week.
At Ed's Express, also located in Gordon Commons, students can order pizzas, subs, nachos, tacos and more. Ed's also delivers many of these items to residents' rooms during specific times of the day and acts as a small grocery store by providing items like Ramen noodles, mac and cheese, 12 packs of soda, snacks, candy, milk, juice, chips, and ice cream. Espress Yourself is a small coffee shop located in Ed's which serves a variety of specialty coffee drinks and yummy ice cream desserts.
