This living experience is ideal for students planning to study abroad, international students, students studying foreign languages, and any students simply interested in world affairs. ILC faculty teach an exclusive course on-site for all ILC residents.

What is the ILC?
The International Learning Community (ILC) offers you opportunities to make friends from Wisconsin and around the world and to interact with faculty, staff, and students who share your interest in learning about different cultures. The ILC is dedicated to enhancing cross-cultural understanding.
The ILC is a unique opportunity for American students who want to get to know international students and for international students who want to get to know Americans. The ILC living experience would be ideal for students planning to study abroad or returning from studying abroad; for international and exchange students; for students studying foreign languages; and for any students interested in world affairs.
To guide ILC student residents in their activities and academics, a steering committee helps direct the learning community. The ILC Steering Committee includes UW-Madison faculty, University Housing Life staff and current ILC students who help design and plan a range of programs from social gatherings to trips to educational and cultural activities.

Language Programs
Within the ILC, small clusters of rooms are devoted to language immersion. These language programs offer intensive experiences in the culture associated with the language. Each year, we offer a variety of languages based on student interest; past programs have included Japanese, Spanish, German, Arabic, Italian, and Scandanavian languages.
Adams Hall is located next to Lake Mendota. Most of the rooms are singles and come with loftable furniture.
Where is the ILC located?
The ILC is located in Winslow, Faville, Richardson, and Ochsner Houses in Adams Hall. Adams Hall is located on lake Mendota on the west, or lakeshore side of campus. Adams Hall is a coed community with a mix of first-year and upper-class residents. Most of the rooms are singles and come with loftable furniture. The ILC occupies approximately 130 spaces in Adams Hall.
What does it cost to live in the ILC?
Most of the rooms in the ILC are single rooms and single room rates apply. Please visit the UW Housing web site for the most up to date room rates. In addition to the room charge there is an additional fee of $200. This $200 fee covers the cost of increased staffing in the ILC, special programs, faculty fellows, and other services unique to the ILC.
If you have applied for financial aid from the University, you may wish to discuss the additional cost of the ILC program with a counselor in the office of Student Financial Services to see whether your aide package can be adjusted to cover the additional ILC expenses.
Who is eligible to join the ILC?
Its easy to meet others in the ILC.
To participate in the International Learning Community you should:

- Bring enthusiasm and curiosity for living and learning in an international community.
- Actively participate in ILC programs and events.
Do I need an application to join the ILC?
When filling out your housing contract, be sure to rank the ILC as your top choice. If you want to participate in one of the six ILC language floors, in addition to ranking the ILC as your top choice, you also need to fill out an application to join the language house. Can I schedule a TOUR of the ILC?
Yes, prospective students and their families can schedule a tour to visit the ILC. In this tour you can visit one of the six language program that the ILC houses, speak with students, and get to know our community. Tours are available on the following dates and times: Every Thursday and Friday (9:00 AM or 3: 00 PM). Please contact the Program Coordinator Raul Leon at least two days in advance to confirm the visit. If you are not able to visit the ILC during these times, prior arrangements can be made, but you must contact the program coordinator at least a week in advance.
