Welcome from the WISE Faculty Director

Dear Admitted Student,

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Wisconsin-Madison!

We understand that you may be interested in a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. We would like to introduce you to an exciting residence hall program, the Women in Science and Engineering Residential Program (WISE).

The program offers you a unique opportunity to live in a UW-Madison residence hall as part of a residential community that will link your academic work and your living environment. You will live with other students who share your interests and you will be taking many of the same classes, so it will be easy to form study groups and work together for success.

The program is open to women from all schools and colleges at the University. It involves academic, social, and professional activities designed to create a supportive environment for women in the sciences and engineering. Activities range from book clubs, to resume building workshops, to camping and hiking. This is a great place to study and a fun place to live! You can find more information about WISE at the following website: www.housing.wisc.edu/wise/. We are happy to announce that in Fall 2008 we will be awarding scholarships of $200 each to three new WISE students. Details about how to apply for the scholarship will be available on the WISE website after March 1, 2008. I you would like details before March 1, please contact Ann Haase-Kehl at (608) 262-2278.

If you would like to become a part of this remarkable community, you will need to indicate your interest in WISE when you submit your Assignment Preference Information. If you have already submitted your preferences and wish to change your preferences to include WISE, please login to the Online System at www.housing.wisc.edu/assignment/.

Best wishes for a great spring semester, and ON WISCONSIN!
