Volunteering

If you are interested in meeting new people, gaining experience and knowledge working on LGBT issues on campus, and having some great resume material, you should consider volunteering!

LGBT Campus Center

You can volunteer at the LGBT Campus Center to help work on a specific project, or to help staff the center on a regular basis with set office hours during the week. The CC also has a Speaker's Bureau that leads workshops and panel discussions across campus and in the community, and a Menoring Program to help students new to the LGBT community. Even if you can only volunteer for an hour or two each week, your time would be greatly appreciated, and you will meet lots of new people!

Ten Percent Society

Three times each semester (about once a month) there are Ten Percent Society dances open to all students. The dances are lots of fun, but require a great deal of time and energy to make happen. If you help volunteer to set-up, take-down, or help sell tickets throughout the evening, you get in the dance for free! All you have to do is volunteer for a minimum of a half-hour period, and you get a free ticket in.

TPS also helps plan two week-long celebrations of queer pride, one in the fall semester (Coming Out Week), and one in the spring semester (Out and About Week). TPS helps organize programs, workshops, guest speakers, social events, and panel discussions for both Coming Out Week and Out and About Week.
