Renovation Updates
August 31, 2009
Chadbourne Hall is now filled with new residents and new amenities as both move-in and renovation deadlines have come and gone.
Resident rooms are clean and bathrooms including new sinks, stalls and showers have been built. New dens have also been created and include all of the amenities found in a standard kitchen, as well as a dining/meeting space.
The ADA compliant ramp connecting Chadbourne and Rheta's is also finished.
The outer face of the elevator tower is now complete and soon phase two of the Chadbourne Hall renovation plan will be underway. Over the next year, elevator cars will be installed in the new tower.

Chadbourne and Barnard halls are nearly complete with the first of three phases of the renovation project. Phase two and three incorporate additional upgrades at both Chadbourne and Barnard, but until phases two and three are complete in August 2010, contrast between newly renovated and yet to be renovated areas will be noticeable.
In addition, there will likely be some items from phase one that will not be finished until sometime in September. Work is being done by contractors to schedule any remaining items in a way to minimize any possible inconvenience to incoming students.
As mentioned, phase two and three will be completed in August 2010 and updates on these phases will be provided not only here, but also at a Community Forum meeting this fall.

From the top floor to the lobby, the details involved in the renovation of Chadbourne Hall are becoming more visible as each day passes. Most notable is the construction of the new elevator tower outside of the residence hall. The outer face of the tower is now more than halfway complete. Work has even been started on the creation of new elevator lobbies on each floor.
Bath/shower rooms are nearing completion on the top floors. The restrooms are completely redesigned and include more space and are also more ADA friendly.
Great progress is also being made on the new ADA accessible ramp, connecting the north entrance of Chadbourne and Rheta's.

Progress at Chadbourne is becoming more and more visible with every day that passes as many of the contractors are working six and seven day weeks.
Floors nine through 11 are nearly put back together and within a week or so, staff will begin with light cleaning.
Construction of the elevator tower is also right on schedule. All of the blocks of the tower are in place and the face bricks will be coming soon.
Renovation of Rheta’s rooftop has begun as well.

Work at Chadbourne is continuing as progress on the new elevator tower is coming along even better than expected. The interior is almost complete and blocks will be put in place on the outside over the next couple weeks.
The addition of central air conditioning in the common areas is one feature of modernization in the hall that is currently being worked on. Also, many of the rooms and floors are beginning to be put back together.

The crew at Chadbourne Hall has made big strides over the last two weeks as nearly 95% of the scheduled demolition is complete. Reconstruction of the building has even started.
Possibly one of the most anticipated pieces of the renovation has begun as well - the shafts for the three new elevator towers are being erected and the changes can be seen from the outside of Chadbourne.
Floors 10 and 11 are near completion as workers continue to work their way down the Hall with new partition walls being created along the way.

The renovation project in Chadbourne Hall is now in full swing. Construction crews have moved in and are busy setting up their work areas on each floor. Safety measures are being implemented as well to help ensure a secure work environment.
Demolition of existing rooms and space is well underway as crews are working two shifts to get the tear-down completed by the middle of next week.
Extra design and modification is taking place on the first floor and basement so each and every space is utilized efficiently.
