Lot 32 Closed & Site Being Prepared

A high-dynamic-range (HDR) panorama of the site preparation in parking lot 32.On the first day of construction of the new Lakeshore Hall – Phase 2 residence hall, the site of the new building hummed with activity as parking lot 32 was officially closed. The contractor began fencing off the construction area, complete with green dust barriers to limit the impact on nearby Allen Centennial Gardens, Holt Commons, Cole Residence Hall, Kronshage Residence Hall, and the College of Argricultural & Life Science's Short Course Dorms. Simultaneously, landscaping work crews began clearing areas of brush and cutting down trees to create space for a new fire lane between Sullivan Residence Hall and Kronshage Residence Hall (Swenson House). Many of the trees cut down will be replaced after Lakeshore Hall – Phase 2 is complete in fall 2013.

A related portion of the Phase 2 construction project includes the construction of a new main entrance to nearby Cole Residence Hall. This work has already begun and is going smoothly. Upon completion in August 2012, Cole's new accessible entrance will feature a spacious lobby and common area as well as new landscaping and pathways around the building.
