New 32 Residence Hall
Construction Schedule: May 2012 - July 2013
Building Enclosed
November 16, 2012
With winter just around the corner, contractors working on University Housing's newest residence hall (temporarily named New 32 Hall) have successfully enclosed the building. New 32 Residence Hall is now water tight, with almost all windows covered and exterior cinder blocks built. With this step complete, the building's interior is now being heated, allowing construction crews to continue work inside throughout Wisconsin's cold winter months. To date, precast roof panels have been installed, and masonry crews are laying the interior walls on the building's third, fourth, and fifth floors. Temporary lighting has been installed throughout the interior, as well, and New 32's stairwells have begun to be built.
On the exterior, with the roof panels in place, contractors are scheduled to remove the large crane from the construction site next week. Additionally, exterior veneer brick and stone laying has begun in earnest, starting with the north and west facing facades. Overall, the project continues to proceed satisfactorily and on schedule for New 32's August 2013 opening and dedication.
