Roommate Request

To be paired with a preferred roommate (a parent/guest or another student), both parties must request the other person.

No Roommate Request

If you select a double occupancy room and don’t submit a roommate request, students will be paired with another student of the same gender and parents/guests will be paired with another parent/guest of the same gender.


Breakfast is included with your SOAR accommodations. Most mornings*, a hot, fresh meal is served at a dining unit in or near your residence hall.

Each meal has a variety of hot entrée selections, including vegetarian and healthy choices.

*On days when breakfast is no available in your residence hall, a coupon will be provided for breakfast in an open dining unit.


Lunch and dinner options are often available in many of our dining venues. The staff at the hall desk can answer any questions you have about meal times and locations.

Guests not staying in University Housing, can purchase breakfast with cash or a credit card.

SOAR parking is available to purchase when you register for your SOAR session. 

Check-In and Check-Out


You can check in for your room and Freshman SOAR session in the lobby of your residence hall from 10:45 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. You'll receive your room assignment, room key and additional information. 

If you arrive after 12:45 p.m., you'll need to check in for your SOAR program separately, at Union South. The hall desk is open until at least 11:00 p.m. to accommodate any late arrivals. If you will be arriving after 11:00 p.m., please contact the residence hall desk via phone prior (Smith Hall - 608-890-1250; Sellery Hall - 608-262-1076) to 11:00 p.m. to make special arrangements.


Please check out at the residence hall desk no later than 8:00 a.m. Luggage may be stored at the hall desk while you are at the remainder of your SOAR sessions.
