Bus Transportation

  • Van Galder bus schedule
  • Bus ticketing information:
    • Tickets can be purchased online before arrival.
    • Ticket Prices: O'Hare to Madison--- $30 one-way.
  • Where to catch the bus at the airport:
    • If arriving in the international terminal, go to the lower level, door 5E.
    • If arriving in domestic terminals, go to the Bus/Shuttle Center located at door 4.

  • Bus drop off location in Madison, WI:
    • Due to current construction projects, the Madison stop is temporarily located near The Chazen Art Museum at 800 University Avenue. Please ask the driver to confirm your drop-off location.

    • Terminal 1 (Gates B9 and C18)-Hours: 8:00am – 8:00pm
    • Terminal 2 (Main)-Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm

Bus Transportation

  • If you are arriving at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport, travel on the light rail is required to be able to catch the Megabus to Madison. For information on the light rail and how to get there, visit the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport maps and/or the METRO Transit website.

  • Bus ticketing information:
    • Tickets must be purchased prior to travel. Please visit the web site listed above to purchase your ticket.
    • Ticket Prices: Prices will vary, but tickets are approximately $35.
  • Where to catch the bus in Minneapolis, MN:
    • You will catch the bus at North 3rd Ave, between Washington Ave. and Target Field.
  • Bus Drop Off Location in Madison, WI:
    • The bus will drop you off at the Dutch Mill Park and Ride.

Currency Exchange

  • Location and Hours of Currency Exchange
    • Terminal 1(Lindbergh)-Travelex is located between Doors 5 & 6 in the Ticketing Lobby. Hours: 6:00am – 9:00pm
    • Terminal 2 (Humphrey)-Travelex is located pre-security in the Ticket Lobby. A currency exchange ATM is also located inside the secure area near gate H6, which handles euros, pesos and pounds. Hours: Vary seasonally; please call 612-726-5187 for more information on hours.

Bus Transportation

  • Badger Bus schedule
  • Buses to Madison leave directly from Mitchell International Airport.
  • Bus ticketing information:
    • Ticket purchases can be made prior to travel. It is suggested to purchase your tickets ahead of time.
    • Ticket Prices: One-way tickets from Mitchell Airport to Madison are approximately: $22
  • Where to catch the bus at the airport
    • The bus will be located outside of the baggage claim area, door 2.
  • Bus Drop Off Location in Madison, WI:
    • This bus will drop you off on-campus at the Chazen Art Museum, located at 700 University Avenue.

Transportation Options

  • Once you get your luggage and other belongings, make your way to the exit.
  • You will exit after taking an escalator down to the main floor.
  • Once you exit, you will see taxis waiting outside. If you do not see a taxi, below are a few numbers to local taxicab services.
  • Cost: Cab rides to campus will be approximately $15-$20. They can take you directly to your residence hall.

Additional Important Information

Campus Map

  • Visit the UW-Madison campus map
  • You can then search for the residence hall you will be staying in. The map will highlight it.
  • It would be important to check out the map and find your destinations ahead of time, as when you arrive to campus, you will have an easier time getting to your hall.

Bank Account

  • You can apply online for an account at UW-Credit Union
  • Click on “Enroll” on the left-hand side of the page. (You will need an ITIN or a Social Security Number to enroll.)
