Configuring a Wireless Network Adapter for Windows XP (SP2)
Note: Prior to following these instructions you will need to insure the drivers for your wireless
card are already installed.
- Click Start -> Control Panel.
- In the upper left corner of control panel select switch to classic view.
- Select Network Connections.
- You should have an option under Lan or High-Speed Internet that says,
Wireless Network Connection.
- Right-click on your connection icon and a menu will appear, select View Available Wireless
Networks.
- A window will appear that will display the wireless networks available in your area.
- Select ResNet-Wireless and click Connect
- Open up your web browser and it will be automatically redirected to
http://wireless.resnet.wisc.edu.
Read the appropriate use policy and complete the form to enable Internet access.
- To check your signal strength, double click on your connection icon in the network connections
control panel or go to Start -> Connect to -> Wireless Network Connections and
observe the signal strength.
