Wireless Router Configurations
Residents should be sure their wireless access points are configured correctly so that unauthorized people do not access the internet under your NetID. Remember any computer connected to ResNet through your router or wireless access point is your responsibilty. For more information see our Appropriate Use Policy. Residents should also be aware that all bandwidth usage by anyone connected to your wireless access point is recorded under your NetID. While neither ResNet nor DoIT can offer support for wireless access points, we have some documents on how to configure a secure wireless access point. The following are documents on how to sercure wireless access points for common routers.
In general, residents should make the following changes to their wireless routers: Enable WEP and/or MAC based filtering, change the
default SSID, and change the default admin password. Below are instructions for a few popular routers, if your router is not listed below
