Welcome to Kronshage, Cole, & Sullivan (KroCS)!
Follow "KroCS_Community" on Twitter! Receive daily "tweets" to stay up-to-date with current events in the community.
We are so pleased that you will be living with us. Your new home in Kronshage, Cole, or Sullivan Hall is a part of the scenic Lakeshore Area Neighborhood. You will be surrounded by Lake Mendota, tennis and basketball courts, and Cole "Beach", a popular place to sunbathe or play ultimate Frisbee. To get to class or other downtown events, you are just a quick hike, bike ride, or bus trip away. You are lucky to have the best of both worlds; access to the excitement of downtown life and a place to come home to that is away from your classes.
With small house communities in Kronshage, Cole, and Sullivan Halls, and the KroCS Organization (KroCS-O), the hall organization that unites these three halls, you will have multiple opportunities to get involved in the community and meet new people. From the day you arrive you are an integral member of our community because of the positive energy, ideas, and contributions you bring. We have tons of staff and resources available, but it is you who will make KroCS the caring, safe, inclusive, and respectful place we all want. We look forward to meeting you!

Interest Groups
Start an Interest Group! We want you to get others involved with your favorite activity, hobby, or great idea! We're even willing to give you money to make your group happen. Want to start an Intramural team? No problem! We'll pay the registration fee. Want to watch Grey's Anatomy with friends? No problem! We'll find you a big screen television and give you food to make the event better.
KroCS-O Meetings
Every other week, a sort of "town meeting" happens in our community in which everyone meets to discuss issues, plan programs, and decide on how money will be spent. KroCS-O is the heart of the community, a place where you'll have the chance to make sure that your interests and concerns get the hearing and action they deserve. Committees include Culture & Arts, Diversity, Academics, and Community Service. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to meet other residents and find out what's going on.
KroCS-O Liaisons
Are you ready for a little leadership? Represent your house at KroCS-O meetings and bring back information about upcoming events. Join a KroCS-O committee and help plan exciting events. As a KroCS-O Liaison, you get to help make our community great (and build your résumé)!
Academic Initiatives
Interested in forming a study group with other residents? Our Academic Program Coordinator can help! You'll also find opportunities to participate in a book club or our innovative A-Team, our academic goal setting reward program.
RHAB
KroCS has 4 Residence Hall Advisory Board (RHAB) Representatives who are charged with advocating on behalf of the KroCS neighborhood to the senior administrators of University Housing. This is a great way to make your voice heard and bring about the change you want to see! In the Fall, look for more information on applying for one of these competitive positions. During the year, seek out fellow representatives to provide them with your feedback!
Alternative Breaks
Make the most of your winter or spring break by participating in an alternative break trip. In the past, we have traveled all throughout the country helping with a wide range of projects, from rebuilding homes after Hurricane Katrina to helping repair nature parks after natural disasters. In March 2009, students traveled to Hilton Head, SC, and Miami, FL, to support Habitat for Humanity in its efforts to build and restore homes. These trips are fun, affordable, and help you connect your educational experience beyond the boundaries of the UW-Madison campus!
What if I need help with my classes?
One of our most important jobs is to help you be successful academically. Most students need help at some point, so don't be afraid to speak up. KroCS is a strong academic community, and we have many resources to help you meet your academic goals. Take classes in the Kronshage Classroom with your neighbors; there is more information on how to do this at SOAR. Visit the math, chemistry, or economics tutors or the Writing Center Instructors in Lower Frank's after dinner. Utilize the Technology Learning Center (TLC), a state-of-the-art computer lab, with laptops, LCD projectors, digital cameras, and more available for checkout. Attend the Study Group Kick-off at the start of each semester. We pride ourselves on helping students achieve their academic potential.
