Involvement Opportunities
KroCS-O: Kronshage, Cole, & Sullivan Organization
If you live in KroCS, you're a member of KroCS-O, no matter how much you know about our halls or participate. Every other Tuesday night at 7:00pm, a sort of "town meeting" happens in our community. It's a regular gathering in which everyone meets to discuss issues, plan programs, and decide on how money will be spent. If you want to feel connected to the people and spirit of the larger KroCS community, KroCS-O meetings are a good place to start. KroCS-O is the heart of the community, a place where you'll have the chance to make sure that your interests and concerns get the hearing and action they deserve.
KroCS-O Goals:
- Provide resources for student involvement opportunities.
- Strengthen academic performance through an enjoyable community experience.
- Empower each other by allowing the community to choose its own opportunities.
Hall Programs
Throughout the year, KroCS will sponsor a variety of hall-wide programs - programs that every resident is welcome to attend! If you like to help plan events, we'd love to have your help! Some of our programs are purely social in nature, so that you can meet other people. Examples of social programs that KroCS residents have planned in the past include:
- Trips to Chicago
- Ski Trips
- KroCS Olympics
- Trips to Museums
- Broomball on frozen Lake Mendota
Look for details about these and other programs throughout the year! If are interested in helping to plan programs for the entire community, please contact your House Fellow or the Involvement Coordinator.
Residence Halls Advisory Board (RHAB)
The Residence Halls Advisory Board (RHAB) meets once each month. At these meetings, student representatives from each residence hall on campus meet with the Director of University Housing, as well as directors of Dining and Culinary Services, Maintenance and Housekeeping, and other administrators who are very important in our residence life experience. There is a set agenda of topics to be discussed at each meeting, and at the end of each meeting there is an open forum where representatives can bring to the table any questions, concerns, ideas, or suggestions that residents from their halls may have.
Interest Groups
There's a funky University rule about a club needing at least four people to exist. That's about the only criteria to form an Interest Group in KroCS. Interest Groups provide very flexible ways to connect with other people who share common interests (and who might need some money to make their ideas happen!). Swing Dance, Guitar, Ultimate Frisbee, Philosophy discussion, Fantasy Basketball, Study Abroad... the possibilities are nearly limitless when creating Interest Groups. No matter who you are, chances are that at least one Interest Group will fit you... and if it doesn't, start your own!
House Activities
One of the easiest ways to get involved is to become an active member of your House community and to help your House Fellow plan events and meetings for your floor. Each House in KroCS receives a pool of money based on a number of residents and it is up to the residents of each House to determine how the money is spent. Your House Fellow will discuss program ideas and ask for your participation at House meetings.
