D-Link DI-614+

Use these steps for a D-Link DI-614+ to secure your router from the outside world

  1. First open up your favorite web browser and type in the IP address of the router, this most likly being a 192.168.0.1 address, into the address bar of the web browser. You will then be prompted to insert the host name and password of the router to connect to it. You should get a page that looks as follows:

  2. Click the "Wireless" link on the left side of the page. After this is done, you will get a page that looks similair to this.

  3. Click on the Enable radio box that is on the top. In the SSID text field, type in a unique name for your router. Then click on the Enabled radio box for the WEP option. After this is done change the Key Type to say ASCII. NOw type in a unique key (password) into the Key1 text field (make sure to rememeber this, you will need it to connect to your router later), and click on the Key1 radio box. The screen will look similair to the screenshot with different IDs and key values.

  4. Now click on the Apply link on the bottom of the screen and you are now done configuring the router.
