NetGear WGR614
Use these steps for a NetGear WGR614 to secure your router from the outside world

First open up your favorite web browser and type in the IP address of the router, this most likly being a 192.168.1.1 address, into the address bar of the web browser. You will then be prompted to insert the host name and password of the router to connect to it. Once this is done your screen should look as follows:

Next click on the "Wireless Settings" option under the Setup options to get a screen as follows:

Scoll down to the Sercurity Encryption (WEP) option and type in a unique key (password) into the text box. Click on the key 1 radio box and then click generate.

Copy down the string of letters that now appears in the key 1 text box. You will need to supply the router with this string when you connect to it. Now type in a unique name into the Name (SSID) text box, and then check the box that says "Enable Wireless Access Point" and click accept on th e bottom.

- You are now done configuring the router.
