Resident Organizations
University Apartments Assembly
Residents take an active part in planning activities and services for the community. The University Apartments Assembly and its committees address the needs of residents of the community. These groups work with staff to respond to community issues, make recommendations regarding policy, and assist in the planning and implementation of services and programs for the community. Some current projects include:
- Eagle Heights Newsletter-a monthly publication by the Assembly
- University Apartments Telephone Directory- published each fall
- Assembly Grants- money for resident initiatives to better the community - see below for more information
- Community Car- the Assembly negotiated free memberships and lower rates for University Apartments residents
- If you have ideas or would like to volunteer with the Assembly, please email the chair at assemblychair@gmail.com
Assembly Grants
Each year, the Assembly receives a portion of the usage fees from the Community Center. This money is available for resident-directed projects and purchases within the community. These grants are awarded in October and April. Any resident of University Apartments is welcome to submit a grant proposal. The money and programs should directly benefit the residents of University Housing. In the past, grants have funded the purchase of park benches near the playgrounds, bike helmets for children, play equipment in the Community Center, sponsorship of entertainment, and much more.
If you are interested in applying for a grant, please fill out the application below and return it to the Community Center Office.

Community Gardens
The two University Apartments-Community Gardens, adjacent to Eagle Heights and to University Houses, offer an opportunity for residents to enjoy the out-of-doors, to meet neighbors, and to grow vegetables and flowers for their own use. Organic and non-organic garden plots rent for a small fee, which finances the operation of the Gardens. Day to day operations of the Gardens is overseen by a committee of volunteer gardeners, which always welcomes new members. Check out the Garden Website for more information.
