Neighborhoods
University Apartments is made up of three neighborhoods, Eagle Heights, University Houses and Harvey Street Apartments. University Apartments is a diverse, international community serving graduate students, faculty, academic staff and post docs and their families.
Central campus is located just a short distance away, easily accessible by bike or bus. The campus bus is free, and all UW-Madison students and staff receive a free city bus pass for use on other routes. University Apartments children attend nearby neighborhood schools.
The city of Madison, which surrounds the campus, offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities including civic events, outdoor concerts, seasonal farmers' markets, and a wide selection of restaurants and shops. More about Madison, WI.
Eagle Heights
The Eagle Heights neighborhood is on the northwest end of campus near a natural wooded preserve. There are 1,050 unfurnished one, two and three bedroom apartments for students, faculty, academic staff and post docs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There are approximately 3,000 residents, currently representing over 65 countries. The apartment buildings are grouped in clusters, creating a neighborhood feel. The grounds are spacious, and there are many outdoor recreation and play areas.
University Houses
The University Houses neighborhood is a community of 150 unfurnished one, two and three bedroom apartments for students, faculty, post-docs, and academic staff at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. University Houses is located approximately 2.4 kilometers (1.5 miles) from the center of campus and just a few blocks from UW Hospital and Clinics. The grounds are spacious and attractively landscaped, and there are several outdoor play areas located throughout the complex. You can easily bike or walk into campus along a wooded lakeshore path or take the campus bus.
Harvey Street Apartments
The Harvey Street Apartments include 47 furnished one and two bedroom apartments serving single graduate/professional students. Harvey Street apartments are locacted one block south of University Avenue convenient to several Madison bus routes that travel through campus.
Community Center
Residents of all three neighborhoods of University Apartments are welcome at the University Apartments Community Center, 611 Eagle Heights. The Community Center offers rental rooms for parties or other gatherings, as well as events, programs, classes, quiet study space, gym time, and community services resources.
