University Houses

Eligibility

Current eligible affiliations and priorities through June 30, 2008:

In order to be eligible to live in University Houses, an applicant must hold a University of Wisconsin appointment as a faculty or academic staff member, or an appointment as a postdoctoral scholar.

Applicants must qualify for occupancy under one of the following categories listed in order of priority for assignment:

  • Full professors, associate professors and assistant professors new to the University of Wisconsin-Madison with full-time appointments whose immediate family includes a spouse/domestic partner and/or dependent children. This includes single persons with children, married couples with or without children, or domestic partners with or without children.
  • Full professors, associate professors, assistant professors who are single and do not have dependent children.
  • Full-time academic staff whose immediate family includes a spouse/domestic partner and/or dependent children. This includes single persons with children, married couples with or without children, or domestic partners with or without children.
  • Full-time academic staff who are single and do not have dependent children.
  • Postdoctoral Scholars, honorary fellows and/or research associates.

Eligibilty beginning July 1, 2008

Effective July 1, 2008 (the start of the 2008-2009 University Apartments lease year), eligibility for University Houses will expand to include student families and single graduate students.  The purpose of this change is to remain at maximum occupancy by reflecting a demographic shift in applicants to University Apartments. 

Priority for Assignment to University Houses (effective July 1, 2008):

  • Graduate students with Fellowships
  • Student Families
  • Non-Student Families (faculty, academic staff, postdocs, etc.)
  • Single Graduate Students
  • Non-Student Singles

Fair Housing Statement

The Division of University Housing will not discriminate in assignment to University Faculty Apartments on the basis of race, color, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, religion, disability, national origin, or ancestry. Applicants are assigned according to their priority category and date of application.
