Preparing for Power Outages

With the warmer weather, thunder storms and other severe weather can bring about power outages.

To make sure you are prepared for a power outage, you should have the following in your apartment:

  • Flashlights
  • Batteries
  • Candles

Also, do not forget to keep your cell phone charged so you can make calls if there is no electricity.

If the power is out, call Madison Gas & Electric at: 608-252-7111.

When there is a storm with thunder and lightning, keep your lights off and try not to use too much electricity (don’t do laundry, cook with the stove or oven) to minimize potential damage if there is a power surge or outage.

You should also have surge protectors to keep your more expensive electrical items (computers, televisions, etc.) safe.
