University Housing Fall 2020 Update

UW-Madison has announced plans for a modified return to in-person instruction this fall, and we’re excited to welcome Badgers to #LiveWithBucky on campus. University Housing is developing detailed plans to welcome students to our residence halls with added precautions to set you up for success. By working together and doing our part, we can help this year be a safe, healthy, and successful one. Here are a few key updates for incoming residents:

Room Types
Our residence halls will continue to have primarily double rooms, with some adjustments to reduce density.

Hall Assignments
Information on hall assignments and roommates is expected to be sent in mid-July.

Isolation Spaces
Spaces will be set aside for 14-day isolation of residents if a student tests positive for COVID-19.

Additional move-in dates will be added to reduce crowds. Dates and details will be shared as soon as they’re available.

Rigorous sanitizing procedures will follow CDC and UHS guidelines. Touch points in shared spaces will be minimized and physical distancing promoted by reducing seating.

Access to Housing Dining locations and residence halls will be limited to Housing residents and staff, and we’ll be adding more touchless ordering, delivery, and carry out options.

End of Semester
We have not finalized the plans for the residence halls after Thanksgiving Break.  As of this time, we are not anticipating any reductions in housing rates.

Rules & Expectations
COVID-19 specific policies regarding regular testing, visitor restrictions, and face coverings have been added to our Student Housing Handbook. Residents will be required to review and abide by them.

Student Jobs
Housing is now hiring for fall student positions. It can be a great way to earn money, meet people, get experience, and get one of your top hall choices.

We recognize we don’t have all the answers yet, and the situation continues to evolve, but we promise to be in close communication as more details develop. Please check your email account regularly for updates, and visit our moving & breaks page for the latest details. To help keep you informed, we’ll be hosting livestream Q&As on Thursdays at 11:00am (central).

Thanks for choosing to live on campus. We hope you have a fun, safe summer, and we look forward to providing a memorable Wisconsin experience when you join us this fall!

On, Wisconsin!
