Welcome Parents and Families of Incoming Badgers

Jeff NovakOn this first day of move-in, there is a sense of excitement and energy in University Housing as we prepare to welcome our residents back. After five months without students in the residence halls, our staff has been planning and working around the clock getting ready for these days. We truly believe we have done our very best to prepare for successful move-in and on-campus living experiences for your student. Like many of you, our staff are hopeful, yet anxious. Our full-time staff of over 450 employees chooses to work in University Housing because they are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of students and ensuring their student experience at UW–Madison is second to none.

University Housing has high expectations for our residential experience. In addressing the many challenges of this pandemic, I pledge to all of you, on behalf of our team, that we are fully committed to doing everything we can to place the health and safety of our residents first. We have spent the last five months considering all of the scenarios for students’ safe return to campus, and while I cannot guarantee whether something may have been missed, I can guarantee we will take immediate action to provide the highest level of genuine care and concern as we follow-up.

You and our students have spoken loudly that you want to be here, and our staff is ready to greet you with a warm Badger welcome. As the parking lots and halls start to fill with excited students and families, we ask for your understanding, grace, and patience as we embark on this new way of moving in and living. I am confident that with all of us working together in partnership, we will be very proud of what we have accomplished.

Sincerely,

Jeff Novak
