In collaboration with the Dane County Diaper Bank, the TAA — the union for TAs, PAs, RAs, Fellows, and all grad workers — has launched our Diaper Distribution Program (DDP). We will now receive 5,000 or more diapers per month to distribute (for free) to UW graduate student families in need.
HOW TO REQUEST DIAPERS
Requesting diapers is easy:
- Complete a short request form (link here).
- Receive a confirmation email with more information on picking up the diapers.
Currently, we offer contactless pick-up at the TAA’s office (Gilman Plaza, 520 University Ave #220, Madison, WI 53703). Available pick-up times include mornings (9 AM-12 PM), afternoons (12-4 PM), and evenings (4-8 PM) on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
What diaper sizes are available, and how many can I request?
We have a wide range of sizes including newborn, numbered sizes 1 through 7, and pull-ups. At present, we are prepared to provide 90 diapers per child per month, although availability may vary based on demand. If we are unable to meet your needs in a given month, it is likely that we may be able to meet it the next month.
How do I qualify for this program?
The only evaluative criteria is that a requestor is a UW graduate student with a wisc.edu email address. The TAA diaper bank does not means test or ask requestors to justify their need.
How do you ensure that diapers are picked up safely?
All requested diaper pick-ups are contactless, and packages will be sanitized with disinfecting wipes and placed outside the TAA office. Due to the unpredictable and highly contagious nature of COVID-19, we are taking every step possible to prevent transmission. However, there is always some risk, and we want you to be aware of that before accepting aid.
Do you offer delivery?
At this time, we cannot offer delivery through our Diaper Distribution Program. At some point in the future, we may expand operations to include delivery.
Can I donate diapers or money to support this program?
While the TAA does not accept donations for this program specifically, you can donate cash directly to the Dane County Diaper Bank (link for donations here). This will support programs that distribute diapers to families in Dane County, including the TAA diaper bank. You may visit the Dane County Diaper Bank’s website (danediapers.org) for more information on their mission and services. You can also donate money to support the TAA’s Mutual Aid Fund, which supports graduate students in financial need.
I have other questions about this program. Who can I contact?
