Due to the unique challenges of this year, several changes have been made to Housing dates and the UW-Madison academic year calendar. After Thanksgiving, all courses and final exams will be held virtually through the end of the semester. The residence halls and dining markets will remain open through exams, closing on December 18.
The start of the spring semester was pushed back a week, with the residence halls reopening on January 23, and spring classes starting on the 25th. UW-Madison will not have a spring break this year, but there will be no-class days on March 27 and April 2-3. The spring exam schedule has not changed, with final exams running May 2-7.
This year’s returning resident process for 2021-22 has been delayed until early-February, to allow us time to plan for next year. We are encouraging students to not rush into off-campus leases and to consider returning to the residence halls when our process opens in the spring semester.
Campus enrollment for spring semester courses will also happen later this semester, starting in December and continuing into January. The expectation is that instruction for the spring 2021 semester will be a mix of in-person and virtual classes. The full schedule of classes for Spring 2021 is targeted to be available in early-December.
