Madison Children’s Museum is working with the City of Madison on a new temporary public art project called Sidewalk Surprises, throughout the Greater Madison area. This project is part of Madison’s new Look Forward Initiative, and is designed to encourage active movement and play, while abiding by social distancing rules and guidelines.
It is more important than ever for the museum to support public health as families struggle to navigate online learning, social isolation, financial stress, limited access to outdoor play, and mental health challenges. Sidewalk Surprises will give children and families much-needed outlets for physical, educational, emotional, and creative enrichment using their bodies, minds, and senses in light and playful ways outside of their homes. In a world currently saturated with an overdose of screen time, this is a welcome antidote for many families in our community.
