At The Open Seat, our mission is to alleviate food insecurity on campus by ensuring every Badger has adequate access to healthy food.
If you are new to campus — welcome! We’re so glad you’re here. If you’re returning to the residence halls, welcome back.
Have you lost your on-campus job? Is your meal plan running out quicker than you thought? Do you ever skip meals to stretch your money a little further?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Open Seat is here to help. The Open Seat is currently supplying any UW-Madison student in need with free boxes of food packed and distributed by Second Harvest Foodbank. These boxes come in 10-15 lb sizes. Options vary weekly but various quantities of produce, dairy, and dry goods are typically available.
Beginning the week of September 21, 2020, The Open Seat will have three on-campus locations for pick-up of food. The first is at Union South (by the parking circle on the Union Hotel side) from 12:00pm – 1:00pm on Tuesdays. The second will be at East Campus Mall (in front of the Student Activity Center) from 12:00pm-1:00pm on Fridays. If you are interested in picking up food on Tuesdays at Union South, please fill out this form by 12:00pm on Thursdays. If you are interested in picking up food on Fridays at East Campus Mall, please fill out this form by 12:00pm on Tuesdays.
We are also considering adding a pick-up OR drop-off location in the residence halls. Help us help you by filling out this quick survey!
