As we wrap up the 2020-21 school year, we would like to take a moment to sincerely thank all of you for your efforts and contributions to our residence hall community. This year challenged all of us in ways that we’ve never faced before. From the pandemic and virtual learning to social justice issues and national unrest, we have had to navigate difficult situations and emotions. We have had to rethink how we learn, how we provide services and how we support each other. We have adjusted to wearing masks in daily life, taking countless COVID tests, and making more virtual connections.
Despite all of these challenges and during the most difficult times, here we are at the end of the school year. We made it. It may not have been perfect or exactly the year that you envisioned, but we’re grateful for the way our Badgers community came together to create a successful Wisconsin experience. Your flexibility and cooperation helped us manage the virus and keep each other safe. Our Housing student staff were also instrumental in getting us to this point, and we hope you will consider thanking them for their efforts in keeping you safe and supported during this difficult year.
As you work through final exams and start saying goodbyes to fellow Badgers, we hope you’ve grown academically, discovered new perspectives, met lifelong friends, uncovered new interests, and set yourself on a path for success. That’s what the residence hall experience is all about.
We wish you all the best on your finals, and we hope you enjoy a safe, relaxing summer. We look forward to seeing many of you back on campus next fall, hopefully under much more normal circumstances. To help us get back to normal, we hope you will consider getting vaccinated if you have not already done so. Vaccinations are the best way for us to protect ourselves and others. Every person who chooses to get vaccinated is one step closer to us all getting back to the full UW-Madison experience we love so much!
