My name is Guadalupe Jensen, and I’ve been in my current position for almost two years.

What is your current role in University Housing?

I am custodian lead at Gordon Dining & Event Center with the Facilities department.

How long have you been with University Housing?

This May made 7 years with University Housing.

What do you do on a typical day in your job?

I generally assist with sanitizing tables and chairs, sweeping, taking out the trash, sanitizing surfaces, cleaning bathrooms, cleaning spills as needed, vacuuming, floor care, making sure entryways are clean, running reports at the end of the night, monitoring if anything needs maintenance, making sure doors are locked, and providing excellent customer service.

What’s your favorite thing about working with students who are living on campus?

I like that we enjoy working together, learning together, and creating a professional team in a safe environment, but at the same time, having fun and being productive.

What is a past work accomplishment that you’re proud of?

I’m proud to be part of a good team who provides excellent customer service together. I’m currently the University Congress representative of District 46 and a member of the Central Committee, and I’m so proud of it.

What is a secret talent that your co-workers may not know about?

I like to sing and some of my co-workers already know about it.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Mexico City, Mexico.

Where is your favorite place in the world?

Singapore. I haven’t been there yet, but someday I will!

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about helping others, traveling, and spending time with my family.

What is your favorite TV show, movie, or book?

My favorite movie is Crazy Rich Asians and my favorite book is Papillon.

What is your favorite family/home tradition?

I love gathering together and listening to music, dancing, singing, eating, playing Uno, and at the end of the night, watching a movie and eating palomitas (popcorn) con chile (chili pepper) and other snacks.
