If you or your spouse received a Well Wisconsin incentive payment in the amount of $150.00, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) considers this a taxable fringe benefit. This requires the UW System to treat the incentive as taxable income for state and federal tax purposes.
Financial incentives will be reported as taxable wages and subject to applicable withholdings and taxes. You will see withholdings for all incentives issued in the current calendar year reflected on your May, August, or December earnings statement and listed as Tax Fr – Health/Wellness. This will include incentives issued to your spouse, if applicable. Employees also received an email from UW-System if the Wellness Incentive Tax applies to them.
