Get to Know Housing Staff: Kevin Weber

Kevin Weber, I have been a Trades Supervisor at University Apartments since May of 2018.

What is your current role in University Housing?

I work with UA Carpenters, Painters, and Grounds Crew to support the day-to-day operations and upkeep of the apartments.

How long have you been with University Housing? Other positions on campus?

I have been with the Division of Housing for 4 years. I have not worked anywhere else on campus.

What do you do on a typical day in your job?

I work to ensure that the residents of University Apartments have a functional and safe place to call home.

What’s your favorite thing about working with students who are living on campus?

I find joy in helping solve problems for our residents, big or small, there is always joy in helping people and making them feel supported and taken care of.

What is a past work accomplishment that you’re proud of?

I am proud of the role I played in supporting my staff and colleagues through the darkest and scariest times of the pandemic.

What is a secret talent that your co-workers may not know about?

I can make a “gritty” bar of soap.

Where did you grow up?

In the swamps of Blue Mounds, Wisconsin.

Where is your favorite place in the world?

In the kitchen with my partner Kaia, daughter Ruby June, and Blue Heeler Indiana.

What are you passionate about?

Building strong relationships, understanding what gets people motivated, and helping others.

What is your favorite TV show, movie, or book?

My favorite TV show is The Office, my favorite movie is Forrest Gump and my favorite book is My Side of the Mountain by Jean George.

What is your favorite family/home tradition?

Preparing and enjoying meals together.
