What is your name and how long have you been in your current position?
My name is Jodi Krause and I’ve been in my current position for about a dozen years.
What is your current role in University Housing?
I am currently one of the Assistant Directors for Building Services and I support Sellery, Witte, GDEC, Ogg, Smith, Merit, Davis, and Bayliss.
How long have you been with University Housing? Other positions on campus?
I’ve worked for University Housing for 23 years. I was employed at Union South as a student.
What do you do on a typical day in your job?
My typical day is responding to questions from staff and/or residents; taking care of any purchasing responsibilities, and just supporting folks however I can.
What’s your favorite thing about working with students who are living on campus?
My favorite thing is seeing how much has changed from when I started working here and learning new things from them.
What is a past work accomplishment that you’re proud of?
I’m most proud of leading our change to more sustainable cleaning products and winning the AS&U Award in 2013 as a result.
What is a secret talent that your co-workers may not know about?
I don’t have any secret talents (and if I told, they wouldn’t be secret).
Where did you grow up?
I grew up mostly in Waunakee, WI. However, I also lived in California and Oregon as a teenager, and I graduated high school in Oregon.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
The beach in Oregon at Haystack Rock
What are you passionate about?
In my career, definitely sustainability. In my personal life, my grandson, hockey and being more sustainable.
What is your favorite TV show, movie, or book?
I love crime shows, so all the Law & Order, Criminal Minds, and NCIS. My favorite movie is Ghost, and I have too many favorite books to name just one.
What is your favorite family/home tradition?
Our Christmas (my husband, and the kids) time. We celebrate over both days, but my favorite single activity is going to see all the Christmas light displays we can together (my husband, our sons, and now our grandson).
