What is your name and how long have you been in your current position?

My name is Johnson Thao and I’ve been in my position for 3 years.

What is your current role in University Housing?

I’m the Building Services Assistant Supervisor at Bradley, Phillips and Dejope Halls

How long have you been with University Housing? Other positions on campus?

I’ve been with Housing for 15 years. I’ve worked day and night shift as a custodian, I’ve worked as lead custodian at Gordon, and I’ve been a Facility Repair Worker for night shift.

What do you do on a typical day in your job?

The first half of the day I usually spend doing admin stuff and the other half of the day I’m cleaning and completing work orders.

What is a past work accomplishment that you’re proud of?

I’m pretty proud of being the first one to ever win the optimism core values award.

What is a secret talent that your co-workers may not know about?

I’m pretty good at drawing.

Where did you grow up?

Madison, Wisconsin

Where is your favorite place in the world?

Probably my bedroom.

What are you passionate about?

Recently I’ve been really into cars and I can’t wait to buy my first sports car.

What is your favorite TV show, movie, or book?

My favorite TV show is an anime, Cowboy Bebop. My favorite movie is also an anime, Karas.

What is your favorite family/home tradition?

During Christmas, we play a game that involves wrapping up gifts and prizes in a huge ball of saran wrap and trying to unwrap it using oven mitts. Super fun game, but I don’t know what it’s called.
