Hello, my name is Zachariah (Zach) Seaman, and I have been in my current position since July 2021.

What is your current role in University Housing?

My current position is as a Custodian at University Apartments Facilities.

How long have you been with University Housing? Other positions on campus?

This is my first position on the UW-Madison campus.

What do you do on a typical day in your job?

Most days consist of post-residential apartment cleaning. Some days I have the opportunity to assess our Mechanic Staff with routine maintenance (i.e. new lightbulbs, window screen repairs, and making new window shades, etc).

What is a past accomplishment that you’re proud of?

In graduate school, I was able to apply and be awarded a grant for conducting new multidisciplinary research with Near-surface Radar and Burrowing Crayfish.

What is a secret talent that your co-workers may not know about?

Rocks & Minerals identification and North American Bird & Call identification

Where did you grow up?

Central Illinois, and lived in Southern Illinois for a while for undergrad and graduate school

Where is your favorite place in the world?

Inspiration Point, Wolf Creek, Southern Illinois at Sun Set. It’s a large limestone drop-off that overlooks the Mississippi flood plain and the Mississippi River. I also proposed to my wife there.

What are you passionate about?

I love serving and supporting my Isaiah Church family. I love serving and spending time with my wife and newborn daughter.

What is your favorite TV show, movie, or book?

The Office

What is your favorite family/home tradition?

Going to cut a live Christmas tree as a family for the season
