What do you do in a typical shift?
In a typical shift, I log packages, interact with residents for things such as packages, keys, and maintenance issues. A few other things I do during my shift, are answer emails for the desk, organize packages, contact residents for certain issues, as well as provide service to anyone who may call while I am at the desk.
What are some perks of your job?
Some perks of this job are the flexibility of the hours here at the desk, the ability to pick up shifts when wanted, and having such open communication with ALL Desk Services members across campus to answer questions and help when needed.
What is your favorite part of the job?
My favorite part of my job is getting to work with such a great team at the Smith and Ogg desks. I love having such a great group of people to work with, and such amazing supervisors that allow me to enjoy my job.
What is something you have accomplished in your job that you are proud of?
One thing that I have accomplished during my job that I am extremely proud of is being able to build relationships with the residents who live in the halls each semester. Many residents recognize me and vice versa, and being able to build relationships with residents has allowed for more safe connections to be made, and allows the residents to feel more comfortable and connected in the place they live.
What transferrable skills have you learned?
I have learned many customer service skills (specifically interpersonal communication) and time management. I have also learned the art of multitasking while in the chaos of package logging and assisting residents.

Why did you choose to work for University Housing over somewhere else?
I chose to work for University Housing for the convenience of working where I live and to have a schedule that works for me.
