University Apartments New Resident Mentor Program

University Apartments is excited to announce a new pilot program, the New Resident Mentor Program, that connects new residents moving into University Apartments with a resident who already has experience living as a member of our community. The intent of the program is to connect new residents with other members of the community to build friendships, share cultures, get to know the Madison and UW-Madison communities, and have a positive, fun experience! Serving as a New Resident Mentor is an unpaid leadership opportunity.

We are looking for a small group of Mentors to join our team!

New Resident Mentor Requirements:

  • A current resident of University Apartments for at least 4 months by Sept 2024
    · Current University Apartments lease in good standing through Dec 2024
    · Adult 18 years of age or older
    · If UW-Madison student, current student status in good disciplinary standing
    · Desire to get to know and engage with new residents in University Apartments
    · Willingness to respectfully engage with people who have different identities than you
    · Experience living abroad or speaking other languages preferred

Mentor Expectations:

  • Serving as a Mentor requires at least 1 semester of participation
    · Attend required training sessions, dates TBD
    · Attend UA-sponsored New Resident Mentor/Mentee Kick-Off event, date TBD
    · Meet at least once a month with assigned Mentee(s)
    · Adhere to the UW-Madison code of conduct by engaging with participants in the Mentor program
    · Report any concerning behavior to the Assistant Director of Resident Support Services
