Who participates in testing?
All on-site University Housing employees are required to participate in the mandatory COVID-19 testing program run by University Health Services (UHS).
This includes student employees who are working on-site in Residence Halls Facilities, Dining and Culinary Services, Residence Life and University Apartments.
Student employees who are enrolled in the mandatory testing program because of living in the Residence Halls will be scheduled for testing through Residence Life, instead of through their employment.
If you are both a University Housing resident and employee, your COVID-19 test results may have an impact on your employment as well.
Information about the testing program
- Employees must set-up their MyUHS portal in order to participate in the testing program
- This includes entering your date of birth, contact information, and agreeing to the UHS Information & Consent Form
- If you are under 18, your parent/guardian will also need to sign the consent form. University Housing Human Resources will reach out with more information if this applies to you
- Visit the MyUHS Instructions guide for steps to set-up your MyUHS
Before you get tested
- Testing appointments will be scheduled in MyUHS
- A QR code will need to be presented at each appointment.
- Plan to bring your smartphone with you to the appointment in order to access and present the code in MyUHS, or
- Print the QR code from MyUHS before going to your appointment and bring it with you
- Each appointment will have a different QR code so if you’re printing it, you will need a new one each time
- Plan to bring your Wiscard to the appointment
At your testing appointment
- Present your Wiscard and QR code to the UHS testing staff
- Perform the test with testing professionals observing
- Testing will be self-administered, with testing professionals there to monitor
- The whole process should only take a couple of minutes
Getting your test results
- Within 72 hours after your test, you will receive notification (text or email) that your test results are available
- Test results will be posted in your MyUHS portal
If test results are negative
- If your results are negative: no action is needed
- Continue to be tested every two weeks as scheduled
If test results are positive
- Do not go to work. Go home if you received your test results while at work. If you’re a Housing resident, follow any additional steps or requirements put into place by the Residence Halls.
- Employees should notify their supervisor of their absence via the unit call in procedure as normal. Employees do not need to disclose their positive test result.
- Notify University Housing Human Resources of your positive test result
- hr@housing.wisc.edu or 608-262-2766
- We will be able to discuss next steps with you
-
- We will notify only the necessary people in your department that a positive test occurred
- Additional reporting requirements may also exist if you live in the residence halls.
- A UHS contact tracer will call you within 3 – 5 days after the positive test result was received
- If you do not answer when they call, please check your voicemail for their instructions and call them back as soon as possible.
- The contact tracer will ask you questions to identify those who may have been in close contact, and to determine if they need to notify others.
- The quicker you respond to them, the quicker they can complete any follow-ups with others.
- If you received a positive test result from a testing location outside of Dane County, please inform University Health Services of your positive result by:
- Sending an email to covidresults@wisc.edu, or
- Calling (608) 890-0000 (you may be instructed to leave a message), or
- Submitting an online form within MyUHS under “Messages” and select “COVID-19 Outside Result Reporting”
You cannot return to work until:
- You’ve been fever free for 24-hours (without the use of fever-reducing medicine), and
- Your symptoms have improved, and
- It’s been at least 10 days since your symptoms began. Or, if you don’t have symptoms, you may return to work 10 days after you were tested.
