Slichter Residence Hall is a tight-knit community made up of mostly first-year students. The front of the building looks out at beautiful Allen Centennial Garden, which provides a great view for residents. The Slichter backyard also offers green space for outdoor activities, reading, and lying out in the sun. Once you exit the main entrance of Slichter, you’ll not only be able to catch a glimpse of Lake Mendota to the right and see Steenbock Library to the left, but if you continue southbound on Babcock Drive, you will also approach the engineering campus and Camp Randall Stadium. Slichter is a great location due to its proximity to this area as well as other academic buildings and Union South.
Residents can conveniently eat at Carson’s Market (one of five dining markets on campus), which is located right behind the building. Rooms in Slichter are equipped with great storage, including a built-in armoire and additional closet space for each roommate to store their belongings. Each resident floor has a lounge space with comfortable furnishings where residents are often found socializing or studying. On the lower levels of the building, Slichter is also home to the University Housing offices, so residents that live here can easily access the Cashier’s Office to pay their housing bills and consult with Housing staff.
