Elijah Holmes

Biography

Elijah Holmes (he/him/his) is one of the founders of Essence. As a freshman, he lived on the southeast side of campus. In finding his place on-campus, he joined the Wisconsin Black Student Union, University Gospel Choir through impact, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. In these organizations he found his voice and call to to create a community for students within the Black diaspora. As a Junior, he became a House Fellow and saw an opportunity to create a supportive living experience — that has become Essence.
