It seems there’s an app for everything these days, so it’s probably not surprising that the UW-Madison Police Department has one too. It’s called BadgerSAFE and, as the name suggests, personal safety is its primary goal.
How can it help you?
Emergency Notifications – BadgerSAFE is the only source for Off-Campus Emergency Alerts. Users also receive WiscAlerts, ALERTUS warnings and emergency weather notifications that may affect the campus area.
Friend Walk – Allow a friend or family member to temporarily track your whereabouts, and contact emergency services for you if necessary. This is a great for those late-night walks when an in-person companion or SAFEwalk is not available.
Connect with UWPD – BadgerSAFE offers one-button access to a UWPD dispatcher (NOTE: In an emergency, always call 911 first).
“I’m OK” – Use this BadgerSAFE feature to quickly notify chosen recipients that you’re safe during an emergency or critical incident.
Plus, you’ll find campus maps, a Safety Toolbox, support resources, weather information, and much more than I have space to list. Download BadgerSAFE today. Or, if you already have the app, spend some time now reviewing its functions. Your safety is critical; let BadgerSAFE help. BadgerSAFE is available for IOS and Android, and can be downloaded from all the usual app stores.
