Eagle Heights Community Garden Worker

The Eagle Heights Community Gardens are looking for two Community Garden Workers to join our team! We are recognized as one of the oldest and largest organic community gardens in the U.S. and are focused on growing food organically, building soil patiently, and creating a community of gardeners from around the world.

From mowing, managing large and small projects, and overseeing groups of garden volunteers – we’re looking for Community Garden Workers who are committed to making the gardens a positive experience for gardeners and visitors alike.

With a flexible, seasonal schedule – this position is best suited for people who can work independently, will make this position their own, and who are interested in contributing to the long history of gardening we’re proud to carry on. Apply today!

Work Schedule:

  • This position will work primarily during the garden season (March to November), with occasional opportunities for hours available during the off-garden season.
  • Community Garden Workers typically work 10-20 hours per week with flexibility, depending on the season and weather, demands of the position, and the availability of the gardeners. Must be available to work most weekends throughout the garden season. The position is approved to work up to 20 hours/week during the garden season.

Facilities Technician I

Join the University Housing Facilities team as a Facilities Technician I!

University Housing is looking for handy individuals with excellent customer service skills to join our 3rd shift facilities team!  Facilities Technician I staff keep University Housing spaces safe and clean for residents, staff, and guests. They also assist in repairing small equipment and help to troubleshoot maintenance issues. This is a great position for a night owl that wants to fine tune or learn new facilities related skills. 

Facilities Technician I is a critical component of our 24/7 operation to ensure ongoing safety, maintenance, and operational continuity in our housing and dining spaces. This position responds to urgent maintenance concerns, provides emergency response to residents and summer guests and completes custodial cleaning duties.  Maintenance duties include responding to fire alarms, conducting freezer and cooler checks, assisting in and coordinating emergency elevator maintenance, helping students and guests who are locked out, and responding to work orders that require immediate attention.

Work Schedule will be determined with the selected finalist upon hire. Primary schedule for 3rd shift positions is 8:30pm – 7:00am, consisting of four 10-hour shifts on a rotational basis. All 10-hour shifts include holidays and weekends on a rotating basis as a part of their normal schedule. There is flexibility, and schedule alterations may be available as operations and position expectations demand.

Food Service Dishwasher

University Housing is looking for individuals to join our Dining and Culinary Services dishwasher team! 

Dishwashers keep the UW-Madison residential dining facilities prepared and stocked with clean serving supplies.  As a Food Service Dishwasher in University Housing you will:

  • Demonstrates and role models exceptional customer service
  • Perform duties in a high-volume, dynamic, student residential dining environment
  • Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency

Work Schedule: 

  • Multiple vacancies may be available
  • The primary schedule for this position typically consists of 5, 8-hour shifts per week that may fall on any day of the week. Schedules may rotate every other weekend. 
  • Operational and work schedules will be closely aligned with the services and customer needs of the unit. As a result, work schedules may be adjusted during specific times of the year, including summer and winter break hours. 

Work schedule will be set with selected finalist(s) at time of offer. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.

Resident Support Assistant Director

The Resident Support Assistant Director is an integral member of the University Apartments leadership team and community. The University Apartments community is a vibrant and diverse community of graduate students, their families/dependents, and faculty/staff.

This professional supervises the Resident Manager staff, who provide 24-hour support to the residents of University Apartments. They also take the lead on responding to resident concerns and serve as a resource and advocate for residents of all ages, referring residents to appropriate staff, campus and community resources, and working closely with the University Apartments Leadership team, University Apartments Assembly, and University Apartments residents to identify community needs, and program accordingly to address those needs.

Blue Collar Multi-Shift Openings

Blue Collar Multi-Shift (BCMS) is the transfer process for certain blue-collar positions within the division. Positions posted through the BCMS process are open to any University Housing employee who currently holds a position in the same title, with some exceptions.

To apply for a BCMS transfer, you will first need to complete a Request for Transfer form:

Option 1 – Apply Online:
Visit the Jobs Hub within Workday. Select the BCMS transfer position you are interested in. Click on “Apply” and follow the steps to submit your BCMS transfer application. Upload your Request for Transfer form as an attachment when you are applying within Workday

Option 2 – Apply on Paper:
Submit your Request for Transfer form to University Housing Human Resources by the deadline date. You can submit this form in person at Slichter Hall, email it to hr@housing.wisc.edu, or have your supervisor help you return this to University Housing Human Resources.
