David Frankenburger

Credentials: 1845 - 1906

David Frankenburger was born in Lawrence, Pennnsylvania and received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was an attorney for eight years in Milwaukee before returning to Madison to teach at the University of Wisconsin. Frankenburger taught military tactics for two years and oratory and rhetoric for 28 years at the University. He organized the Edwin Booth Society, served as president and vice president of the Wisconsin Alumni Association, and was instrumental in creating the Wisconsin Alumni Magazine. Frankenburger wrote a number of poems and served as poet of the Law School Alumni Association and as poet for The Wisconsin Alumni Association’s exercises the at commencement ceremony of 1869.
