Planning Your Arrival
We are looking forward to your arrival in University Residence Halls at UW-Madison! Wondering about Residence Hall Assignments, what you need for Fall Move-In, or anything in-between? View our information below!

What Would Bucky Bring?
In addition to the furnishings provided by University Housing, we encourage you to bring your own belongings to personalize your room. Wondering what to bring to campus? Bucky’s got you covered!
More to Know
Your student will receive an email from the Assignment Office about room assignment information in the My UW Housing portal. It’s a good idea to have your student contact their roommate(s) and coordinate who’s bringing what prior to move-in.
Have your student visit the Assignment information in MyUW Housing, and click “Email address to contacts” to learn how to correctly address mail and packages to your student. Please do not ship any packages earlier than one week before their move-in.
Lazybones, Inc. is a company that provides storage and moving services to the UW-Madison community for an extra fee. For more information visit www.mylazybones.com.
We strongly recommend that all University Housing residents obtain renters insurance for their personal items and liability.
University Housing will use the students’ wisc.edu email addresses to send updates and other information. It is important for students to check their wisc.edu email regularly.
Employment
University Housing employs nearly 2,000 students throughout the year in a variety of areas. If your student is looking for a job on campus with a flexible schedule, great pay, and close to where they live, consider talking to your student about working with us.

Looking Ahead
For year 2 and beyond, many students start looking in early-fall at their housing options, which may include returning to the residence halls or living off-campus. Residence hall space is not guaranteed after the first year, so students should pay attention to information from University Housing.
