New Spring Residents

New First-Year Spring Admits

Most UW-Madison students who are admitted to the University for the spring semester are offered a contract for the University Residence Halls. A separate application for housing is not needed, but you must sign the contract and pay the advance payment by your due date if you wish to live in the residence halls. University Housing communicates with you through the email address you provided to the University on your application, with information to complete the online contract process in the My UW Housing portal if space is available.

If you are not automatically sent a housing contract offer for spring, you may reach out to the Assignment Office directly at assignme@housing.wisc.edu to inquire about availability.

Students who receive a contract offer will be given a deadline to complete the contract, pay the advance payment, select a dining plan, and enter all residence hall and learning community preferences. Roommate preferences are not accepted for spring-only contracts.

Housing assignments at UW-Madison are not first come first serve, so you don’t need to sign your contract early. As long as you sign and submit the advance payment by your due date, you will be guaranteed a space. Assignment information is made available for new spring residents in early January.

New Transfer Spring Admits and Re-Admits

New spring transfers, re-entries, and re-admits will be offered a contract for the University Residence Halls if space remains available. These contract offers will be sent automatically once admitted for spring. A separate application for housing is not needed, but you must sign the contract and pay the advance payment by your due date if you wish to live in the residence halls. University Housing communicates with you through the email address you provided to the University on your application, with information to complete the online contract process in the My UW Housing portal if space is available.
