Spring Move Out

Due to COVID-19 precautions, equipment check out at hall desks will be limited to only vacuums. Vacuums will be sanitized after use and check outs are  limited to two hours. We will continue to reevaluate the equipment policy during this time.

Equipment Check Out

Items are available to hall residents to check out at no charge. You will need your Wiscard (or another form of ID) to check out items. When you check out an item, desk staff will let you know when it must be returned. If items are not returned on time you will receive e-mail notifications. If this happens on three different occasions you will be banned from checking out items for two weeks. After the fourth overdue item, you will be banned from checking out items for the remainder of the semester.

wdt_ID Items to Check Out (varies by desk) Length of Time of Check-Out Cost of Damaged or Unreturned Items
9 1 Vacuum 2 hours If unreturned, replaced at cost found by staff plus a $10.00 purchasing and restocking fee

Wiscard & Key

Your Wiscard is your official UW-Madison identification card. It provides access to libraries, recreation facilities, and your residence hall. It allows you to pay for food and other convenience store items at Housing dining markets and campus locations. Your metal room key provides access to your room and to your mailbox.

If you have issues with your Wiscard or room key, go to your hall desk to receive a loaner key (depending on the key check out policy).

Hall Postings

Your residence hall provides you timely information regarding student organization activities and events on campus. All posters and brochures must be approved to be posted/distributed in the halls.

Mail and Packages

All US Mail and packages are received and distributed by your hall desk. Mail is placed in your mailbox. Packages are logged, placed on a shelf, and an email is sent to your account notifying you a package is available for pickup. You must have your Wiscard (or another form of ID) with you to receive your package, but you do not need to print out the email notification. Packages are only able to be received — we are unable to hold packages for you to be picked up and sent out. Addresses for each residence hall are available on their individual hall pages.

Residents purchasing from Amazon can also choose to ship items to the Amazon pickup site connected to Sellery Residence Hall. Benefits of this option include secure, convenient pick-up, expedited delivery options, and free drop-off of returns.
