The Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration (VCFA) is partnering with the University of Wisconsin Police Department (UWPD) to offer in-person Active Threat Response Training to all staff in 2024, and you are highly encouraged to participate!
The UW–Madison Police Department conducts this Active Shooter Response Training module, which reviews the skills needed to survive a violent event. The focus is on situational awareness, decision making and the Run, Hide, Fight method of dealing with an active threat. The training incudes research results, data from survivors and practical simulations to re-enforce the material. This training also educates staff on the UWPD response, WiscAlerts, and other key safety information.
Our instructors are experienced law enforcement trainers whose main goal is to share tactics and techniques that can and will help you survive a crisis- specifically, to survive and active shooter incident.
As you complete this training, keep in mind that what you do matters, and we encourage you to remember these three key steps: RUN, HIDE, and FIGHT.

- March 6 from 10:30–11:30am — CLS will be present for Spanish, Hmong, Tibetan, and Nepali languages.
- March 12, 10:30–11:30am — CLS will not be present.
