We want to inform you of an upcoming change in our Lakeshore residence halls, involving Kronshage, Humphrey, and Jorns. Kronshage Residence Hall opened in 1939, consisting of 8 separate buildings/houses (plus the “Kronshage Main” unit). Ten years later, Humphrey and Jorns Halls opened as the “Short Course Dorms,” nearly identical buildings to the Kronshage houses, managed by the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences for their Farm & Industry Short Course (FISC) program. When the FISC program moved in 2019, Housing converted Humphrey and Jorns to official residence halls, sharing many resources with the neighboring Kronshage community. 

With the upcoming renovations to Kronshage, Humphrey, and Jorns beginning this fall, it presented a perfect opportunity to make the logical move of integrating Humphrey and Jorns into the Kronshage grouping rather than keeping them as small standalone residence halls. Starting May 11, 2026, Humphrey and Jorns will officially shift in our Housing systems to being houses within Kronshage, bringing Kronshage to a new total of 10 houses. This also means that going forward Housing will list 19 separate residence halls instead of 21. 

Kronshage Residence Hall will consist of Chamberlin, Conover, Gilman, Humphrey, Jones, Jorns, Mack, Showerman, Swenson, and Turner Houses, plus Kronshage Main. For visual reference, see the attached residence halls map, which has already been updated.
