Life in the residence halls provides you with thousands of opportunities year-round to make friends, make connections, have fun, and get involved. Our Residence Life department plans many fun programs for residents throughout the academic year.
In addition to these larger events, each residence hall plans a variety of community-based programs. You can find out more information about these activities by looking for upcoming events in your housing portal, reviewing community postings, or your residence hall staff (House Fellow, Residence Life Team Assistant, or Residence Life Coordinator).
Note: These programs are for UW–Madison students living in University Residence Halls only, unless noted otherwise.
For other events going on across the campus outside of University Housing, visit the UW–Madison events calendar.
Housing staff: submit an event to be added to the calendar.
Center for Cultural Enrichment
The Center for Cultural Enrichment (CCE), located in Witte Residence Hall, is a multi-use space where all students are welcomed. The friendly atmosphere is a great place to study, attend a program, relax, cook, or hang out when you need a break from a busy day. CCE staff provide support and connections for international students, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) students, and students of color who may feel isolated because they are numerically small populations on campus.
Wisconsin Late Night
Wisconsin Late Night is designed to provide events and programs for evenings to help students connect to campus, meet new people, and continue to have fun as the academic week comes to an end.
Wisconsin Weekdays
Wisconsin Weekdays is designed to provide events and programs with the opportunity for community and relationship building with their peers, as well as education about themselves and the world around them.
The Meet Ups
The Meet-Ups provides residence hall students an opportunity to connect with others around a particular theme group or interest, regardless of whether they live in an existing Theme or Learning community. Our aim is to connect students with similar backgrounds or passions without the need for specific residence hall placement. The Meet-Ups events are hosted on a Monthly basis, typically during the week and we alternate hosting events on the Lakeshore and Southeast side of campus to extend our reach.
Dining
Our Dining staff say the only thing they love more than our students is celebrating the beauty of food with them! Throughout the year, they offer a variety of ways for you to try new food and indulge in old favorites.
Residence Hall Advisory Board
The Residence Hall Advisory Board is a paid opportunity for a group of students to represent their residence hall by sharing the student perspective with the Residence Life leadership staff. For more information about the RHAB position, or to share feedback about your residence hall experience, contact your Residence Life Coordinator or Residence Life Team Assistant.
